FITS for images and spectra
- 1-D spectra may be delivered as either FITS files or ASCII tables in IPAC format, or both. KOA prefers ASCII tables with the metadata encoded in the header.
- 2-D spectra are best served as FITS images.
- FITS ASCII tables are also useful for catalogs having a large number of columns.
Plain ASCII text or csv files for derived data products such as catalogs, line lists and parameters, etc. The README file should be plain ASCII.
