GUIDER Camera Images

Each of the science instruments utilizes one or more guide cameras to help with the positional setup and stability of the science instrument during observations. These guider images are saved frequently throughout the night and can be useful for understanding the contents of the corresponding science instrument data. The available guide camera images are

Calibration Association

Because the guider camera images are not designed to produce a science product, no calibration data are obtained for any of the guiders. Consequently, there is no calibration association for the guide camera data.

World Coordinate System (WCS)

The World Coordinate System (WCS) in the headers of the guider images is approximate and based on the pointing origin, camera rotation, and camera pixel scale. Users requiring more accurate WCS solutions will need to refine the WCS using visible stars in the images.
