Build A Program-Friendly Image Access Query to KOA Data Holdings

This page allows you to build a query that will discover images acquired with all active Keck Observatory instruments having an imaging mode. It is intended as a starting point in helping users build program-friendly queries that can be embedded in a script or run from a browser. If you wish to perform web based searches for KOA data, please use the web interface at https://koa.ipac.caltech.edu. The program queries are compliant with the International Virtual Observatory Alliance (IVOA) Simple Image Access (SIA) Protocol Version 2.0, and enable users to launch searches with a common set of parameters across all instruments. This form enables you to build these queries without knowledge of the protocol.

The easiest way to begin is to select an instrument from the drop-down list below, and the service will populate the fields with parameter values for that instrument. Click "Submit" to return the query URL, a list of keyword/value pairs for that query, record for the first ten images discovered, and a description of the columns returned for that instrument. You can modify the query with your own parameters. Only position ("POS") and instrument ("INSTRUMENT") are mandatory. The default output format is VOTable, a self-describing XML structure defined by the IVOA, but users may select from several common output formats.

The Keck Observatory Archive (KOA) is a collaboration between the NASA Exoplanet Science Institute (NExScI) and the W. M. Keck Observatory (WMKO). NExScI is sponsored by NASA's Exoplanet Exploration Program, and operated by the California Institute of Technology in coordination with the Jet Propul sion Laboratory (JPL).
